Privacy Policy

How Snip.Chat handles your content, browser storage and service requests.

Last updated September 11, 2026

Scope

This policy covers the Snip.Chat screenshot editor and its optional AI features. Last updated: September 11, 2026. The editor currently works without signing in; it does not publish your conversations or provide public reviews.

Editing, images and exports

Ordinary message editing, locally selected avatars and chat images, and PNG rendering take place in your browser. Selecting a local image for the editor does not by itself send it to our AI service. Exported PNG files and copied images are saved to your device or clipboard. A remotely hosted image, if used, requires a request to its host, which can receive network information such as your IP address.

Local drafts and language preferences

The editor automatically saves the current conversation, names, avatars and display settings in browser local storage. Named drafts are stored separately, and your language choice is also saved. This data remains in that browser until replaced, deleted or cleared by you or the browser; it is not an encrypted vault or a backup service. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to access it.

Accounts, cloud projects and subscriptions

Basic editing works without signing in. Google sign-in gives us your Google account identifier, name and verified email, not your Google password. An essential HttpOnly cookie maintains a server-side session for up to 30 days; signing out revokes the current session. Our Cloudflare database stores your account, subscription status, monthly AI usage and cloud projects you choose to save, including their text, images and settings. Cloud projects are isolated by account; existing projects remain readable and deletable after a subscription ends. Clearing browser data or signing out does not delete cloud data. Stripe handles checkout and billing; we store customer and subscription identifiers, not full card details. Contact the email on this page to request account and cloud-data deletion. Payment records may be retained to meet applicable tax and accounting requirements.

Optional AI processing

When you request AI generation, the topic, names and generation settings are sent to our server. Continuing or rewriting a conversation also sends the relevant message text and context. Screenshot recognition sends the selected screenshot, which may include personal information, and the chosen platform. Our server forwards the request to the configured AI service: Groq or Google Gemini for text, and a configured vision service for screenshot recognition. A fallback provider may be used if the first text service fails. Provider or gateway processing and retention depend on that service and its terms; we do not promise zero retention. Do not submit confidential content unless you are authorized to share it with those services.

Hosting and language detection

Requests pass through our hosting provider, Cloudflare. Hosting and security services may process IP addresses, request times, URLs and device or browser information to deliver and protect the site. Browser language and, when needed, the country inferred by Cloudflare from the connection are used to choose a default language. The language endpoint returns a language code, not a precise location; we do not request browser GPS access.

Google Analytics and cookies

The editor currently loads Google Analytics to measure site usage. Google may receive identifiers, page URLs, referrers, interaction events and device or browser information, and may store analytics cookies. The editor does not intentionally attach your chat text or selected images to analytics events. Analytics currently loads without an in-app consent selector. You can restrict cookies or tracking in your browser or use Google’s analytics opt-out tool. Do not place private content in page URLs.

Deletion, retention and your choices

Resetting the editor clears the current conversation but does not delete separately saved drafts. Delete those drafts in the draft manager. To remove all local drafts and language preferences, use your browser settings to clear site data for snip.chat; this can permanently erase unsaved work. Downloaded files and clipboard contents must be removed separately. Clearing browser data does not delete information already processed by hosting, analytics or AI providers. Their retention periods and any rights to access or delete data depend on their policies and applicable law; no single retention period is promised here.

Third-party policies and changes

See the linked Cloudflare, Google and Groq privacy information for their practices. The configured vision service may use a separate gateway. This page will be updated when our processing changes; check the revision date before sharing sensitive content.
